      OK - the canteloupe hide is a power matrix that stores solar energy absorbed by sizzling sidewalk worms - newts survive freezing weather by partaking of this stored heat - all of these transmissions are facilitated by the same invisible force that governs the transformation of socks-lost-in-the-laundry into extra-unwanted-wire-clothes-hangers, an invisible force that is discharged when the melon is sliced open - thus, the selfless worms give their lives for freezing newts, and the surplus or deficit of stored energy on the cantaloupe grid is the x-factor in whether certain melons taste more like picther's mound or sweet sin - but, the only way to prevent sock-larvae form becoming coat-hanger-mayflies is to destroy all cantaloupes!
      sadly, in the event of a mass-cantaloupe-extinction, the worms would still cook themselves...
